David Hood, Managing Director at MTC, said:
“The Lord Chancellor’s announcement this morning that all probation services are to be restored to public ownership and control is disappointing, but MTC will now work alongside the Ministry of Justice to ensure we hand back a service which is continuing to improve.
“I am incredibly proud of what MTC and CRC employees have achieved over the past five years, continuing to drive quality improvements which have been recognised by recent HMIP inspections in both London and Thames Valley.
“HMIP inspectors have acknowledge the efforts of staff to deliver significant improvements to our services, despite the issues of underfunding that all CRCs have had to work through.
“Transforming lives and building safer communities is at the heart of our organisation and we will continue to work over the next year to make sure our people, systems and services transition back to the National Probation Service seamlessly and safely with a focus on protecting the public. “
