Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre (STC) is one of three purpose-built centres designed to accommodate up to 76 male and female children and young people between the ages of 12 and 18 who are either serving a custodial sentence or are remanded to a secure facility.
Working with partners including Novus and Barnados, we provide services including trauma-informed approaches and education schemes to ensure the children and young people access opportunities to move forwards once they leave the centre. We particularly focus on providing education opportunities, with each child and young person given access to electronic tablets with an online education portal.
We aim to boost each child and young person’s self-esteem and awareness, providing them with the emotional support they need to make positive changes in their lives.
At Rainsbrook STC, we offer educational and vocational courses, and have partnered with Novus to broaden our curriculum. We currently offer web-based learning alongside face-to-face teaching. We also run structured activities at weekends, engaging children and young people alongside the formal curriculum. You can find out more about our services under Interventions.
We work with the children and young people at Rainsbrook STC to help them address trauma and access educational and vocational courses that will prepare them to reintegrate to their communities.
Using approaches tailored to each individual, we supply activities that empower them to want to change. These include structured weekend activities and optional participation in the onsite Youth Council.
We currently run Rainsbrook STC only.
Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre (STC) is committed to high standards and we hope this is your experience of working with us.
If you want to thank someone from Rainsbrook STC who has worked with you, please write to them at the centre address or send them an email.
We aim to resolve complaints informally at a local level whenever possible. To avoid the trouble of making a formal written complaint, a face-to-face meeting or telephone conversation with the person involved can often be the solution. If this is difficult, please ask to speak to a more senior member of Rainsbrook STC’s staff.
If you are unable to resolve your complaint with your local contact, you can make a formal complaint in writing within one year of the events concerned.
