Michael Snodden, Director of Transformation, Mobilisation and Digital, and Harry Porter, HR Director, attended the 27th International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA) conference in Türkiye during the last week of October.
The 2025 theme, “Wellbeing in Corrections: Initiatives for Staff, Systems and Communities,” brought together global leaders in criminal justice and rehabilitation to explore how corrections can better support people, both those in custody and those who work with them.
As well as offering an excellent opportunity for networking with MTC colleagues and likeminded individuals in the justice sector, Michael and Harry were able to attend a number of thought-provoking sessions exploring criminal justice innovations and challenges across the globe. The conference provided valuable insights into the Turkish corrections system and offered a meaningful opportunity to learn more about the country’s culture.
MTC were a major sponsor at the event and Michael Bell Vice President, MTC (U.S.) delivered a “retention is the new recruitment” session with Dr. Kim Nugent, Director, Harris Health, U.S.
“We were very lucky to be given the opportunity to attend the conference in Türkiye, it was great to share our experience of the criminal justice system with attendees and to learn more about what is happening both within MTC and globally with regards to innovations in the sector” Harry Porter
“I thoroughly enjoyed the conference, it was great to learn about The Moss Group and LiftUp Labs. The plenary sessions were enlightening and there is a lot we can take away to drive innovation within our bids, improving solutions both for employees and for the people in our care.” Michael Snodden
MTC is looking forward to attending the next conference in Belfast in 2026.
